Brave Space Alliance Free Store

The Brave Space Alliance is located in Hyde Park at 1515 E. 52nd Place, 3rd floor. Masks are REQUIRED for entry. The Brave Space Alliance Free Store is open to community members to “shop” and choose from a variety of grocery + hygiene items.

Within the Free Store, there is also the Makeup Room, a trans-feminine oriented space offering new items for BIPOC, trans and queer folks, and sex workers to pick up for free!

Makeup Room rules:

  • Limit of 10 makeup items per week (one eyeshadow palette per month)
  • Limit of 1 wig or 4 bundles of hair a month
  • 20-minute maximum visit
  • Only 2 people in the makeup room at once
  • You are not allowed to try on any makeup. If you open it, you have to take it or they have to throw it away.

The Free Store and Makeup Room operates from 10 am to 5 pm Monday-Friday, and every second Saturday from 10 am-3 pm.

BSA’s free barber shop, The Den, is a trans-masculine oriented room offering new items for BIPOC, trans and queer folks, and sex workers to pick up for free! It offers a brave and intentional space for queer folks to prioritize their self-care without financial and cultural barriers.

The Den is open every 2nd & 4th Wednesday, 12 pm to 4 pm, and 2nd & 4th Saturdays 10 am to 3 pm.

BSA’s QT Shop (Queer & Trans) is a free initiative for LGBTQ+ community members to choose from donated clothing and accessories based on their needs.This space exists to provide community members with free ongoing access to clothing and accessories that may help them express their gender identity and orientation

The QT Shop is open Monday-Friday from 10 am to 5 pm. Every 2nd & 4th Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm it is open for pickups and drop-offs.

The Brave Space Alliance also has a Pantry Delivery Program that delivers non-perishable foods weekly, and fresh produce biweekly, to the homes of folks who need them. Sign up to request delivery.
