Help with child care costs for Illinois residents

Finding a safe, reliable option for childcare can be stressful, yet alone figuring out how to pay for it. Fortunately, Illinois Action for Children offers a service to help you find reliable childcare options in your area and to get your application completed.

Illinois Action for Children also provides financial assistance in paying for the child care you choose through The Child Care Assistance Program. 

Who is qualified?

To qualify for the program you must meet the following criteria:

  • Currently live in Illinois, and have been a resident of the state for the past 12 months.
  • Have a family income below the allowable limits (use this eligibility calculator to see if you qualify).
  • Currently employed in an FT/PT job; OR, be currently enrolled in an eligible educational institution (college, university, WIOA-based job training program, etc.)
  • Have children younger than 13 who need care while you are working/in school; OR, have children up to 19 years of age with documented special needs requiring care.
