The Basics

Start with the Undocumented Student’s Guide to College where you can find a comprehensive explanation of all of the benefits available to undocumented students in the state of Illinois. Don’t miss page 13 for all of the different supports to help you pay for school.

Legal Support

If you feel that you need help for yourself or your family from an Immigrant Rights Group, check out these recommendations:

  • The Resurrection Project offers legal services to protect immigrant rights as well as financial and housing support.
  • Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights  has many resources for undocumented immigrants including health care access and job training support.
  • Erie Neighborhood House offers comprehensive support to immigrant and low income families including legal services, community resources, mental health support and education and training.
  • UndocWiki was developed by students in partnership with the Illinois Dream Fund & UIC Office of Diversity and has compiled a list of legal resources for undocumented students.

Support and Inspiration

Past experience has informed us that when students hear accounts of the successful journeys of peers who come from similar backgrounds they are more likely to find success themselves. In that way, here are resources which share with you the journeys others took, and the obstacles they overcame in order to find success in their lives.
